Session Details

Session Details

Your session will last approximately 1-2 hours depending on the number of people involved and the number of outfit changes. Sessions can be on-location or in studio. On-location meaning a near by park, your back yard, or any place that has a special meaning to you and your family. During spring/summer/fall I prefer to do sessions on-location using natural light.

I strive to keep your session relaxed and fun. No rushing! I understand that babies get fussy and may need some “mommy time” to be comforted. I also understand that young children get thirsty and/or hungry so please feel free to bring snacks and drinks to make them happy. In addition to food and drinks please don’t hesitate to bring that special teddy bear or “blankie.” Items like this hold special meaning to your child and will be cherished in years to come.

My style is photo-journalistic. Through the lens of my camera I want to tell the story of your life during that particular time. I strive to capture candid moments that show the true personality of your child or family. I want children and families to interact with each other and feel comfortable in front of the camera. Together we can create works of art that you will cherish forever!

Newborn Sessions

If you are interested in having a newborn session please note that this should be done within the first two weeks of your baby’s life. During this time it is possible to capture the freshness of your baby’s skin and to mimic the curled up position in the mother’s womb. I usually allow 3-4 hours for a newborn session. This will give the mother time to feed the baby if needed and to comfort him/her.

Clothing suggestions

I encourage you to dress as comfortably as you can. Please avoid any clothing with writing on it. This will take away from your photo and draw attention to the writing instead of your face. I love to see bright or bold colors on children as well as stripes or plaids. Layered shirts, coats, hats, and scarves are very stylish as well. If you are doing a family session try to stay with all bold colors or all pastel colors. This does not mean you have to wear the same color. Khakis and jeans photograph well too! Just remember to have fun with it!
